PROJECTS IN PROGRESS-UKRAINE

English Language Virtual Library

We have begun a program of assistance to Regional schools, colleges and other public organizations needing books and materials in the English language. In this project, we have created a virtual library on this web site by linking to many electronic media sources. Books and materials in this virtual library are free and available for downloading and copying to be use by the schools. UCPI, working with the various educational and other public organizations helps locate the needed electronic materials and through volunteer efforts, reproduces a few hard copies for use by these organizations. This project is a great step forward because Ukraine has few Enlish language resources. The Virtual Library project is spreading rapidly through the schools and public organizations. Ukrainian / USA Website
CORBIA is hosting the website in the United States. A team of professionals from the United States and from Ukraine have joined together to develop a web-site to serve Ukrainian Nationals and expatriates living abroad. The contents of the web site is being developed by the Ukrainian team members while the American team concentrates on the design, layout and administration of the site. Once the English version of the web site is functional, it is our intention to develop a mirror site in the Ukrainian language

Creation of a Central Projects Office
Spearheaded by the Ukrainian Center of Public Initiatives the concept has been developed and plans are being made to establish a central place to hold public and organized meetings. The Central Projects Office will also collect, share and archive information, research documents, books and items of cultural, historical and artistic interest.

"The Club", a Ukrainian THINK TANK
Created to study Social and political problems in Western Ukraine. Community leaders from Government, Business, and other organizations come together to identify problems and to search for solutions to those problems. This effort is very much like some of the successful approaches used in the United States to get a community organized and working together to identify local problems and to find ways to deal with those issues.

CORBIA and TANE
CORBIA and the Ternopil Academy National Economics (TANE)
are working to establish a joint project of academic assistance and exchange. This project will ultimately lead to student and professor exchanges between Ukrainian and American Universities. Ultimately it is expected to result in granting of International academic degrees between participating schools. In the near term, we will work together to develop a web site to be utilized in exchanging information, class study materials and in providing a medium for cooperation between Ukrainian students and students in other countries.

Political Round-Table
Based on American Political Party Debates, Party Representatives present their views and opinions before audiences of students, professionals and the general public. They answer questions from the audience and try to win votes and gain party members These Round-Tables are part of the TANE project.

Political Lecture Series
Still on the drawing board, but to be a public series that discusses Ukrainian political issues and ideas. "#"

Political Studies Group
CORBIA has been asked to provide a series of historical documents outlining the creation of the United States. In cooperation with the Ukrainian Center of Public Initiatives, Information is being supplied and groups interested in political thought and impact are coming together to discuss and debate the contents of the documents and the actions taken to form the United States.
